Gerardo Pisarello, the Sumar congressman and spokesperson for the Comuns, has achieved a significant victory in the BComú primaries, positioning him to lead the party into the 2027 municipal elections. In the primaries, held recently, Pisarello garnered 1,046 votes out of a total of 1,525, surpassing well-known writer and journalist Roberto Enríquez, also known as Bob Pop, who secured 412 votes, accounting for 27% of the total. This news was officially confirmed in a party statement on Friday, which indicates that Pisarello will remain the presumptive winner until the results are ratified next Monday. Alongside Pisarello, Carol Recio, a BComú councilor in the Barcelona City Council, has also been selected as part of an electoral tandem, signaling a commitment to gender parity within the party. Moving forward, the newly elected leaders will now focus on assembling the top five names for the party list as they prepare for the upcoming municipal elections. Once the results are officially confirmed, Pisarello and Recio will address the media at a press conference on Monday, joined by members of the Executive Committee and other notable figures from BComú and the Comuns. This gathering will serve to formalize their roles as candidates in the upcoming electoral race. The Executive Committee's statement highlighted the successful mobilization both internally and externally during the primaries, indicating a strong interest and involvement from party members and supporters. They celebrated the tandem format of the candidacies, which aims to ensure representation from both genders, reflecting the party's commitment to equality and inclusivity. As the BComú prepares for this pivotal election year, Pisarello's victory has set the stage for a campaign that emphasizes collaboration, diversity, and progressive values aimed at engaging the Barcelona community. The party's leadership is optimistic that this new direction will resonate with voters and help secure a lasting impact in the local governance landscape. Related Sources: • Source 1 • Source 2
