Accidental Shooting Case: Luca Campana Withdraws Complaint Against MP Emanuele Pozzolo

Luca Campana has officially withdrawn his complaint against MP Emanuele Pozzolo, who was accused of accidentally injuring him during a New Year's Eve party in Rosazza, Biella. Campana and Pozzolo have reportedly reached a compensation agreement, which must be validated by a preliminary hearing judge. This validation will take place at a scheduled hearing on October 9.

Pozzolo, initially elected as a member of the Brothers of Italy, faced expulsion from the party following the incident. He remains under suspicion for several charges, including failure to secure firearms, as well as illegal possession of a firearm in a public setting. The shooting incident involved Campana sustaining a leg injury from a bullet discharged from a North American Arms LR22 revolver— a firearm for which Pozzolo possessed a gun permit.

While Pozzolo has consistently denied being responsible for the shooting, he claims that the gun was mishandled by his acquaintance, Pablito Morello, resulting in the accidental discharge. Notably, Morello, who is a prison police officer and the partner of Campana, was also present at the party but was not handling the weapon at the time of the shooting.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Pozzolo tested positive in January for gunshot residue, a fact that has further fueled the investigation into the incident. As the case progresses toward the preliminary hearing, the future of Pozzolo's political career and legal standing remains uncertain.
