Civil Service Strike Planned for February 13 Amid Health Coverage Disputes

The CSIF union has announced a strike call for over half a million civil servants next Thursday, February 13, due to ongoing disagreements between the Government and insurers regarding the Muface health concert. In a statement released on Tuesday, the union highlighted the progress made with Adeslas and expressed a willingness to negotiate better terms with insurers. However, CSIF is demanding an immediate agreement that guarantees health coverage for more than 15 million beneficiaries, including civil servants and their families.

This call to action will impact a diverse range of public sector employees across the country, including university and non-university teaching staff, personnel from the General State Administration, various ministries, agencies and attached dependencies, official bodies, government delegations, and postal service employees.

Moreover, the National Police union, Jupol, has shown its support for the strike, although it is important to note that police officers legally cannot strike. The CSIF union plans to organize a gathering that will allow the public to join the protest, showcasing solidarity among civil servants.

In addition, CSIF intends to present the claims of neglect experienced by mutual members to the Attorney General of the State. The union has criticized other organizations for what it perceives as a double standard, as these groups encourage mutual members to abandon the health concert while concurrently demanding a viable resolution to the ongoing issues.

CSIF asserts that it has increased its dialogue with Muface and other involved parties, holding them all accountable for finding a solution to the healthcare concerns of civil servants. As February 13 approaches, the attention remains on the negotiations and the response from the Government, with many watching closely to see how this situation unfolds.
