Court Proceedings Continue for Vito Quiles in Alleged Slander Case Against Rubén Sánchez

The Court of Instruction 18 in Seville has scheduled a new in-person statement from Vito Quiles, who is under investigation for alleged slander and insults directed at Rubén Sánchez, the Secretary General of Facua-Consumers in Action. The hearing is set for February 25, following a request from Quiles to provide additional testimony after he previously exercised his right not to testify on November 25. According to judicial sources relayed by EFE, the session will commence at 11:40 AM at the Court's headquarters in Seville.

On November 25, Quiles appeared via videoconference from the Courts of Madrid. This marked his second appearance before the Seville court, having initially shown up on June 13 to appoint legal representation and provide his address. His June appearance followed an order from the Judge of Instruction 18 to locate Quiles as part of the investigation into his alleged defamation of Sánchez.

Quiles has previously contested the accusations. He asserted that the complaint made against him by Sánchez is unfounded and maintained that the court's summons had not reached him. Notably, Quiles was ranked number 57 on the list for the European elections representing the Se Acabó la Fiesta voter group, for which he was involved in communication tasks during the campaign.

This legal inquiry has gained significant attention due to the severe nature of the allegations, which include accusations that Quiles threatened Sánchez with death, as well as claims of extortion and scams. Following the announcement of the new court date, Sánchez took to Twitter to comment on the situation, stating that Quiles now regrets his previous decision to remain silent, as he has actively sought to be summoned again to address the court.

The upcoming hearing on February 25 is expected to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this contentious legal battle, attracting both media and public interest due to the serious nature of the accusations involved.
