Cruise Ship Quarantine in Bordeaux After Suspected Norovirus Outbreak
French authorities have confined over 1,700 passengers and crew members aboard a cruise ship docked in Bordeaux following the death of a passenger suspected to have been infected with the norovirus. The Ambassador Cruise Line vessel, which carried 1,233 passengers, primarily from the UK and Ireland, arrived in Bordeaux on Tuesday. Tragically, a 90-year-old passenger passed away, and approximately 50 others aboard have reported symptoms consistent with the virus, according to French health officials. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely and investigations are underway to confirm the presence of norovirus on the ship.
