Cupra Launches Terramar: A Game-Changer in the SUV Market
Cupra, a part of the Volkswagen Group, is on a remarkable growth trajectory with the launch of its latest model, the Terramar. This new SUV exemplifies Cupra's strategic positioning within the fastest-growing automotive segment in Europe. As the company's first electrified hybrid SUV, Terramar is equipped with cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology, boasting an impressive electric range of over 100 kilometers. With a powerful output of up to 272 horsepower (200 kW), this vehicle is both potent and efficient.
Wayne Griffiths, the CEO of Cupra, emphasizes that the Terramar redefines the SUV experience, particularly in terms of feeling, performance, and design. The design of the Terramar is one of its most compelling features. With its shark-nosed front and elongated hood, the SUV makes a bold visual statement. The sporty and modern aesthetic is enhanced by a new light signature, which includes triangular headlights.
Inside, the Terramar focuses on a driver-centric experience that aims to elicit emotions. The vehicle comes equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment system and a variety of connected services via Cupra Connect. This system is designed to improve the driving experience by making connectivity more intuitive and user-friendly. Sustainability is also a central theme, with sport seats made from recycled materials such as SEAQUAL YARN and plant-based tanned leather, reinforcing Cupra's commitment to eco-friendliness.
Since its launch in 2018, Cupra has advanced significantly in the automotive market, achieving approximately 700,000 vehicle deliveries. The Terramar aims to continue this momentum, supporting Cupra's journey towards becoming a mature and confident brand.
Available now in Sweden, the Terramar presents an array of choices with five different powertrains: TSI, eTSI mild hybrid, and the new-generation plug-in hybrid eHybrid. This latest option delivers up to 272 horsepower and features an electric-only range exceeding 100 km, complete with fast-charging capabilities at 50 kW DC. Additionally, customers can opt for the plug-in hybrid version that comes with a 204-horsepower engine.
The Terramar’s blend of innovative technology, sustainable materials, and striking design has positioned it as a finalist for the prestigious Car of the Year 2025 award, marking it as a noteworthy contender alongside its siblings, the Formentor and Born, both of which were finalists in previous years. As Cupra continues to grow and innovate, the Terramar stands as proof of their dedication to redefining the automotive landscape.
