Cupra's Terramar: The Revolutionary Electrified Hybrid SUV Set to Transform the Market
Cupra, a part of the Volkswagen Group, continues its ambitious expansion journey with the introduction of its latest model, the Terramar. This innovative SUV marks a significant milestone as Cupra's first electrified hybrid, showcasing the brand's commitment to positioning itself in the rapidly growing vehicle segment throughout Europe.
Boasting next-generation plug-in hybrid technology, the Terramar is designed to deliver an impressive electric range exceeding 100 kilometers. With a powerful output of up to 272 horsepower (200 kW), this model redefines efficiency and performance in the automotive market.
Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra, emphasized that the Terramar reimagines the expectations of SUV offerings by merging emotion, performance, and design into one comprehensive package. The design features are particularly striking, highlighted by its shark-nosed front facade and elongated hood that create a bold visual impression. The vehicle's modern aesthetic is further complemented by its distinctive triangular headlights, enhancing its sporty appeal.
Inside, the Terramar is crafted to prioritize the driving experience, aiming to stir emotions through its driver-centric design. Key interior features include a 12.9-inch infotainment system, which integrates a suite of connected services through Cupra Connect, ultimately maximizing user-friendliness and overall enjoyment during driving. Sustainability takes center stage in the design, with sports seats fashioned from 100% recycled SEAQUAL YARN, or leather that undergoes a plant-based tanning process, thereby reinforcing Cupra’s focus on eco-friendliness.
Since its launch in 2018, Cupra has bolstered its market presence, delivering approximately 700,000 vehicles, alongside enhancing its reputation as one of the industry’s fastest-growing brands. The Terramar not only strengthens Cupra’s identity as a mature manufacturer but also showcases its increased confidence and authenticity. Griffiths noted that the combination of design, functionality, sustainability, performance, and unique attitude positions the Terramar as a strong contender for the Car of the Year 2025, joining its predecessors the Formentor and Born, both finalists in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Available now in Sweden, the Terramar offers five different drivetrains, including TSI, eTSI mild hybrid, and the revolutionary plug-in hybrid eHybrid. The latter variant, with its peak output of 272 horsepower and the ability to charge rapidly at 50 kW DC, represents a significant advancement in the hybrid vehicle landscape.
As the automotive industry shifts towards greener technologies, the Cupra Terramar is poised to lead the charge in redefining what a modern SUV can embody. With its blend of performance, design, and sustainability, the Terramar is more than just a vehicle; it is a statement about the future of driving.
