Deadly Suicide Attack Strikes Kabul, Leaving Six Dead and Many Injured
At least six people have been killed in a suicide attack in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the city police, reported that the attack occurred in the Bakhtiar neighborhood, located in the southwest part of the city. In addition to the fatalities, at least 13 others, all civilians, were injured as a result of this violent incident.
The Afghan police have launched an investigation into the attack, which has not yet been claimed by any group. However, it is important to note that the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS), known for its rivalry with the Taliban, has previously taken responsibility for numerous attacks throughout the country. One such attack occurred last May, where three Spanish tourists and three Afghans were killed near a famous tourist site in the Bamiyan province.
This latest incident underscores the continuing security challenges facing Afghanistan, especially in the wake of the Taliban's resurgence in 2021. As both local authorities and international observers remain vigilant, the threat posed by ISIS and other extremist groups continues to loom over the region, raising concerns over the safety of civilians amid ongoing instability.
