Delta Airlines Plane Flips Over during Landing at Toronto Pearson Airport
A Delta Airlines passenger plane encountered a serious accident on Monday as it was landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, resulting in the aircraft flipping over on the runway. Fortunately, there have been no reports of fatalities among the passengers or crew. Toronto Pearson, the busiest airport in Canada and one of the top in North America, confirmed via social media that all individuals on board had been located and that emergency teams were swiftly responding to the scene.
Broadcast footage from various news outlets, including CNN, depicted the upside-down aircraft lying in the snow-covered runway. Emergency teams reported they were attending to eight occupants from the Minneapolis-bound flight; however, detailed information regarding their condition was not available immediately.
Local police disclosed half an hour post-accident that most of the passengers, who had flown in from Minneapolis, were evacuated successfully from the aircraft. Images circulating on social media presented a striking scene with passengers and crew members walking around the overturned plane, which was missing its wings and emitting smoke from the fuselage.
The incident occurred during a period of severe weather in Toronto, which had been grappling with heavy snow since Thursday, leading to numerous flight cancellations and significant delays at the airport. However, by Monday, weather conditions had notably improved, allowing for better visibility and operational capacity at Pearson Airport.
