End of Month-long Strike in Faroe Islands Resolves Wage Dispute

After nearly a month of strike involving various work groups in the Faroe Islands, including dock workers, truck drivers, garbage collectors, and warehouse workers, an agreement has finally been reached. The strike, which started on May 14th due to a wage dispute, left shelves empty in supermarkets like FK in Torshavn. The negotiations for a new collective agreement had collapsed on Friday, according to Eirikur Lindenskov, the editor-in-chief of Sosialurin, the largest newspaper in the Faroe Islands. However, the Faroese dock workers union, Havnar Arbeiðarafelag, announced on Facebook that the strike has been called off and an agreement has been reached. The deal guarantees a wage increase of 168 DKK per hour over the next two years for the affected trade groups. This resolution brings relief to both workers and residents in the Faroe Islands.
