Escalating Tensions: Satellite Images Expose Damage from Recent Israel-Iran Conflict
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran intensified over the weekend, marked by mutual attacks that have significantly impacted various locations linked to Iran's nuclear energy program. Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), briefed the UN Security Council on Friday regarding the scale of damage observed. He reported that the aboveground section of the pilot enrichment facility has been destroyed; however, he clarified that there are no signs indicating that the underground main fuel enrichment facility has been targeted.
Recent drone imagery captured on June 14 portrays the aftermath of an Israeli assault on Natanz, with several buildings within the facility reduced to rubble. This development has raised alarms over the potential ramifications for regional stability.
Additionally, the satellite images unveiled damage to a missile base belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) situated near Tehran, also photographed on June 14. These attacks reflect a broader strategy aimed at incapacitating Iran's military capabilities.
The IAEA confirmed further destruction across key sites in Isfahan, supported by Maxar's imaging evidence. The latest reports have also indicated damage to a missile facility in Tabriz, located in northwestern Iran, which is understood to house weapons storage and missiles.
In response to these provocations, Iranian state media reported on Saturday that ballistic missiles had been launched towards Israel, signaling Iran's determination to retaliate against the assaults on its nuclear infrastructure.
