European Commission's Plan to Combat Election Interference: Sifting Through the Noise
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, known for her strong stance against foreign meddling in elections, has proposed the establishment of a European Democracy Shield if she secures a second term. This shield aims to counter disinformation campaigns and maintain trust in the democratic process within the European Union. However, critics question the effectiveness of such measures, likening the fight against fake news to an endeavor as challenging as trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon.
