Fatal Stabbing Outside High School in Gerena: Investigation Underway
A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday outside a high school in Gerena, Sevilla, where a 17-year-old boy lost his life after being stabbed allegedly by an adult who fled the scene. According to Emergencias 112 Andalucía, the emergency call was initiated at 14:35, reporting that a young man had been severely injured on Avenida de las Lumbreras, right near the school's exit.
Eyewitnesses described the attack taking place next to a bus stop serving the route between Seville and Aznalcóllar. In a desperate attempt to escape, the minor tried to board a bus as it arrived, but collapsed on the sidewalk before he could make it onboard.
Authorities, including the Civil Guard, Local Police, and Health Services, alongside a helicopter from the emergency service (061), rushed to the scene. Despite efforts to save him, medical personnel were unable to revive the young boy, who had sustained at least one stab wound to the chest. The Local Police confirmed to EFE that the injuries were too severe to treat in time.
The Civil Guard has since begun gathering initial testimonies from witnesses present during the incident. Their investigation is focused on tracking down four individuals who were reportedly in a car that approached the area shortly after the stabbing. At least two of those individuals supposedly exited the vehicle, and one is believed to be the perpetrator of this heinous act. Some witnesses reported that the suspected attacker had traveled from a nearby town and was waiting for the young man at the bus stop, roughly 500 meters from the educational institution.
This shocking event has sent ripples through the local community, raising concerns over safety and the troubling rise in youth violence.
