FBI Confirms Sole Suspect in New Orleans New Year's Eve Attack; 15 Lives Lost
The recent New Year's Eve attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, which tragically claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals and left 35 others injured, has been confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to have been carried out solely by one individual, identified as ShamsudDin Jabbar. According to FBI spokesperson Christopher Raia, "We assess at this time that there were no other individuals involved in this attack besides ShamsudDin Jabbar."
Jabbar, a 42-year-old American veteran, was killed by police after he drove a rented pickup truck into a crowded area, causing widespread panic and devastation. In a grim turn of events, a flag associated with the militant group Islamic State was discovered in the vehicle, leading authorities to classify the incident as terrorism.
Raia further stated that Jabbar was "100 percent inspired by Islamic State" and described the attack as "planned" and "an evil act."
