Former Wife Among Five Detained in UC Berkeley Professor's Murder in Greece

Five individuals, including the former wife of a University of California Berkeley professor, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, who was shot dead on July 4 in Agia Paraskevi, northern Athens. The 43-year-old Polish national was gunned down while in Greece to visit his twin children and attend a family custody hearing. Authorities say Jeziorski was embroiled in a bitter custody and property dispute with his ex-wife, a Greek economist. The main suspect, her current partner, allegedly confessed to shooting Jeziorski, while the other suspects, all foreign nationals, are expected to face charges for their complicity. They reportedly claimed that they were hired to intimidate Jeziorski, not to kill him, though they arrived at the scene after the shooting had already taken place. Witnesses recounted that Jeziorski was shot five times in the chest and neck by a masked assailant in broad daylight near his ex-wife's residence. The murder weapon has not been found, but investigators suspect it was obtained from central Athens. Local media reports indicate that the ex-wife acknowledged frequent heated arguments over custody issues during Jeziorski's visits. However, she has denied any involvement in her ex-husband's death, even as police are treating this killing as motivated by personal conflicts. Related Sources: • Source 1 • Source 2
