Gaetano Manfredi Elected President of National Association of Italian Municipalities
Gaetano Manfredi, the Mayor of Naples, has been unanimously elected as the new president of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI). This important organization represents municipalities in their interactions with parliament, the government, and European institutions, among other roles. Manfredi's election comes as he succeeds Roberto Pella, who had taken on the role of interim president following the election of former Bari mayor, Antonio Decaro, to the European Parliament in the recent June elections.
The assembly convened in Turin, where Manfredi's election took place, also led to the selection of the new ANCI Council, which will see Marco Fioravanti, the mayor of Ascoli Piceno, stepping in as a significant member. Manfredi’s leadership is expected to pave the way for enhanced representation and advocacy for Italian municipalities on a national and European level.
