Global Condemnation and Condolences Follow Magdeburg Christmas Market Attack

Police and security forces were deployed in substantial numbers at the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, following a tragic incident where a car plunged into a crowd on Friday night. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs took to social media platform X to announce its condemnation of the incident and extend heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, as well as to the German government and citizens. The Ministry also mentioned that a Saudi citizen, a male doctor born in 1974, had been arrested in connection with the attack, although the specific motivations for the incident remain under investigation.

Consequently, the attack has led to the deaths of at least two individuals—a man and a minor—with many more sustaining serious injuries. Reports from regional media indicate that nearly 70 individuals were injured, with about 15 of those in critical condition. "We must support each other in these difficult times," he stated. Similarly, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen provided her condolences, characterizing the attack as terrible news from Germany. She reiterated Denmark's solidarity with the German people in her statement.
