Global Sumud Flotilla Under Attack: Boats Hit While Anchored off Crete

In the early hours of Wednesday, several boats belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla were struck while anchored for the night off the island of Crete, Greece. Eyewitnesses aboard posted videos on social media exhibiting explosions occurring around and on the vessels. The organizers reported that a total of 11 boats were impacted, although, fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries as of now. This incident marks the third assault involving the flotilla; previously, on September 9, a boat docked at the Tunisian port of Sidi Boud Said was hit, followed by another attack on September 10, also in Tunisian waters. The assaults are believed to have been executed using drones. The Global Sumud Flotilla is a civilian initiative aimed at delivering food and other essential goods to the Gaza Strip, with the objective of challenging the naval blockade imposed by Israel. This initiative comprises dozens of boats that set sail in early September from various nations, including Italy, Spain, Greece, and Tunisia. Updates will continue to follow this developing situation. Related Sources: • Source 1 • Source 2
