Introducing the Cupra Tavascan: A New Era of Electric Performance and Design
Take the opportunity to be among the first to test drive the new Cupra Tavascan! In recent years, the surge of new electric car models worldwide has been remarkable, with most car manufacturers now focusing on range, battery size, and zero-emission goals. Among these players is Cupra, the youngest brand within the Volkswagen Group, which is distinguishing itself with a strong emphasis on performance and design.
The Tavascan marks Cupra's first all-electric SUV and its second electric car following the Cupra Born. Helena Sjöberg Tufvesson, Marketing Manager at Cupra Sweden, points out that the Tavascan has all the features that car enthusiasts in Sweden are looking for: a fully electric powertrain, all-wheel drive, and ample space in both the cabin and trunk. "Tavascan has a design that makes many drop their jaws. It's the car for the new generation of car enthusiasts," she says.
Now available on the Swedish market, the Tavascan is developed on Volkswagen's MEB platform, shared with several well-known electric models, including the Volkswagen ID4 and Audi Q4 e-tron. "We position ourselves in the segment between volume and premium brands, representing an exciting alternative to more traditional luxury car manufacturers. We are a robust addition to the Volkswagen Group, flaunting a unique brand identity and a compelling product range," Helena adds.
The Cupra Tavascan embodies sporty aesthetics combined with powerful performance and top-notch safety features. It is available in two powertrain configurations: a rear-wheel drive version producing 286 horsepower and an all-wheel drive VZ variant delivering 340 horsepower. Regardless of the selection, the Tavascan promises an exhilarating driving experience with selectable adaptive chassis control, Sport DCC, and progressive steering.
When it comes to driving range, the rear-wheel drive can cover up to 565 kilometers, while the all-wheel drive variant boasts a range of up to 518 kilometers as per WLTP standards. Charging is also a breeze— the substantial 77 kilowatt-hours battery can be charged from 0-100 kilometers in just seven minutes using fast charging. "This fast-charging feature allows drivers to top up quickly and efficiently when they're on the go,” Helena emphasizes.
Well-equipped as standard and featuring a host of customizable options, Tavascan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 5.5 seconds, with options available for a tow bar and roof racks. It also has a spacious trunk capacity of 540 liters, and the back seats are split and foldable.
The interior of the Tavascan, partly made from recycled materials, radiates both luxury and environmental consciousness. Safety features abound, including a range of advanced driver assistance systems such as Connected Travel Assist and a head-up display with augmented reality designed to enhance focus and create a more enjoyable driving experience. The vehicle comes equipped with a 15-inch infotainment display, a new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) display and control concept, and wireless FullLink capability, supported by an advanced Sennheiser sound system boasting 12 speakers.
