Investigation Underway After Woman Found Murdered in Almería
The Civil Guard is currently investigating the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman, discovered around 8:30 PM this past Thursday, with multiple stab wounds on Lavadero street, adjacent to greenhouses in La Mojonera, Almería. Sources familiar with the investigation shared details with Europa Press, confirming that the victim, who lived with roommates in the area, was not registered under the Viogén protection system, designed to safeguard victims of gender-based violence.
Initially, investigators speculated that the incident could be linked to gender-based violence, however, ongoing investigations are revealing various alternative lines of inquiry. Emergency service reports from 112 Andalucía indicated that around ten calls were received around the time of the incident, alerting authorities to the sight of the woman lying in the street, bleeding and severely wounded.
Health services, the Civil Guard, and Local Police were promptly notified. Unfortunately, by the time medical personnel arrived, the woman was declared dead at the scene, leading to the activation of the judicial protocol for body removal. The investigation remains active, with the victim's body having been transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) for an autopsy in hopes of obtaining further evidence. Meanwhile, the surrounding area is being meticulously examined, and authorities are conducting interviews with potential witnesses. Notably, blood traces have also been identified on a nearby vehicle.
This incident marks the second violent crime reported in the Poniente area this week. Earlier, the body of Antonio Campos, a 54-year-old man from Berja, was discovered bound and lifeless in the trunk of his own car in a parking lot near a fruit and vegetable company in San Agustín, El Ejido, early Monday morning. The rising violence in the region raises serious concerns and calls for immediate attention to public safety measures.
