ITA Airways Announces New Leadership Following Lufthansa Merger

ITA Airways has officially appointed a new board following its recent merger with Lufthansa, marking a significant shift in leadership. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with Sandro Pappalardo taking the role of chairman and Joerg Eberhart assuming the position of CEO.

The newly formed board consists of notable figures including Antonella Ballone, Lorenza Maggio, Eberhart, Pappalardo, and Efrem Angelo Valeriani. Additionally, the board of auditors has been established, with Paolo Ciabattoni, Angela Florio, and Federico Testa taking on these crucial oversight roles. Angela Florio has been designated as the chairman of the board of auditors.

In the merger, Lufthansa acquired 41% of ITA Airways, a deal anticipated to close with shareholder approval on Thursday. New CEO Joerg Eberhart expressed his pride and honor in taking on this prestigious role, stating, "After more than two years of hard work, this new phase in the history of the company will allow us to strengthen our position and develop strategic synergies that will enhance the growth and solidity of ITA Airways as a reference Italian carrier."

Eberhart emphasized that the goal is to ensure greater connectivity for Italy, offering passengers a wider range of destinations. He highlighted a renewed focus on development, innovation, and sustainability as core elements of the company's future strategy.
