Judge Clarifies Raúl Asencio's Charges in Child Pornography Case
In a recent decision, the judge overseeing the case against Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio clarified the processing order regarding allegations of child pornography and the revelation of secrets. Contrary to the initial charges that implicated Asencio in the recording of sexual videos, the judge has officially excluded him from any involvement in capturing the explicit images, acknowledging that there is no evidence that links him to this act.
The case involves four former members of the Real Madrid youth team, including Asencio, Juan Rodríguez, Ferrán Ruiz, and Andrés García, who have all been charged with similar crimes. These include the revelation of secrets through the recording of videos without consent, sharing intimate images of two young women without their permission, and child pornography related to one complainant who is a minor.
The events in question occurred on June 15, 2023, at a beach club in Amadores, Gran Canaria, where the four footballers, aged between 20 and 21, interacted with three young women. During their time together, one of the women revealed that she was 16 years old, clearly indicating her status as a minor. At some point, she and another eighteen-year-old woman went to a private area of the club with Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García, where consensual sexual activity ensued.
While Asencio opted to remain outside of the private cabin, spending time with another girl, it was Ferrán Ruiz who allegedly began recording the encounter without the young women's consent. This footage was then shared among the group, raising serious legal concerns regarding consent and the involvement of a minor.
In the judge's revised order, it is noted that despite the initial allegations, Asencio's involvement is limited to charges of revelation of secrets for sharing the video with a third party and child pornography for knowing a minor was featured in the material. The judge has taken into account the ongoing psychological impact on the victims, noting that the minor has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and other significant emotional distress, which has adversely affected her personal, social, and academic life.
This case continues to raise serious questions about consent, accountability, and the serious implications of sharing intimate content without permission, particularly when minors are involved. As the legal proceedings unfold, the spotlight remains on the responsibilities of individuals in safeguarding vulnerable parties and the consequences of overlooking such moral obligations.
