Judge Gives Carlos Mazón 5-Day Deadline to Provide Evidence Related to DANA
The presiding judge of Court 3 in Catarroja has taken a significant step in the ongoing investigations regarding the devastating DANA floods by personally notifying former president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, of a five-day period to voluntarily submit pertinent communications. This includes various WhatsApp messages and call logs that could shed light on the events surrounding the emergency that claimed 230 lives.
The order, communicated to all involved parties today, indicates that Mazón's summons as a witness will be scheduled once the Valencia Court addresses the appeal he filed to intervene in the proceedings, according to the Valencian Superior Court of Justice.
Specifically, the judge requires Mazón to provide a record of his incoming and outgoing calls from October 29, 2024—the date of the flood—along with any related WhatsApp messages or other messaging communications that are pertinent to the case. Furthermore, he may also submit invoices related to these call logs if applicable.
As the investigations progress, this directive underscores the judiciary's commitment to thoroughly examining all aspects surrounding the tragic floods that have impacted the community profoundly, both socially and politically.
