Lucio Corsi to Represent Italy at Eurovision 2025 Following Sanremo Success
Lucio Corsi, who captured second place at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Song Festival earlier this month, has been chosen to represent Italy at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, which is set to take place in Basel, Switzerland. A total of 37 nations will participate in the internationally acclaimed competition, including the so-called 'big five' that features Italy. The contest will include two semifinals that are scheduled to be broadcast on May 13 and 15 by Rai 2, leading up to the Grand Final where the Italian artist will perform his Sanremo hit 'Volevo essere un duro' ('I Wanted to Be Tough'). This highly anticipated final will be aired on May 17 by Rai 1, Raiplay, and Rai Radio2, as confirmed by the State broadcaster on Saturday.
In a surprising twist, young singer and songwriter Olly, who achieved victory with his song 'Balorda Nostalgia' ('Foolish Nostalgia') during the early hours of Sunday, February 16, at the 2025 Sanremo Music Festival, announced via an Instagram post that he would be skipping the Eurovision event. Olly expressed his decision to forego this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, acknowledging its significance while choosing to focus on connecting with his current experiences and continuing with his beloved live performances. This decision underscores the personal journey of artists in navigating the pressures and expectations of fame and recognition.
