Major Chairlift Accident at Astún Ski Resort Leaves Around 30 Injured
A significant accident occurred this Saturday at the Astún ski resort located in the Canal Roya area, resulting in multiple injuries, with reports suggesting approximately 30 individuals were affected. Various sources consulted by Cadena SER have indicated the extent of the incident.
In response, the Government of Aragon has deployed two regional medical helicopters to the scene to assist with the transportation of the injured. The president of the region, Antonio Azcón, is also en route to the accident site to oversee the situation.
Emergency services are responding swiftly, with firefighters at the scene and ten ambulances from 061 of Aragon dispatched, along with five medicalized ambulances from Navarre. Additionally, a group of psychologists is being sent to the resort to assist those in distress.
Hospitals in the surrounding areas, including Jaca, Huesca, Miguel Servet Clínico Universitario, Royo Villanova, and Barbastro, are on high alert in anticipation of the arrival of the injured. Among those impacted, the most severe case reported involves a woman who is being airlifted to Miguel Servet Hospital for specialized care.
