Major Outage Hits Various Meta Platforms: Users Report Widespread Access Issues
On Wednesday evening, several social media platforms experienced a significant outage, with Meta's services—namely Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads—being particularly affected. According to data from Downdetector, a popular website that tracks online outages, over 200,000 users worldwide reported issues with Facebook starting around 6:30 PM Danish time. Among these, at least 5,000 reports came from Danish users alone.
The disruption was not confined to Facebook, though; thousands of error reports also flooded in for Instagram, Threads, and Messenger. Users across various regions, including the USA, Asia, and Europe, reported experiencing difficulties such as trouble opening apps, updating feeds, and posting content or comments.
Tech media outlet The Verge highlighted this outage as a massive and widespread issue affecting a large number of users.
In response to the situation, users trying to access Facebook were met with messages indicating that the company is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. On X, Instagram’s official page shared, "Hi, we know there's a technical issue impacting some people's ability to access Instagram. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and are sorry for any inconvenience."
As the situation develops, users are actively sharing their experiences and waiting for updates on when normal functionality will resume. Stay tuned for further updates regarding this major outage.
