Melia Hotels International Expands Portfolio in Greece Through Franchise Agreement
Spanish hotel chain Melia Hotels International continues its expansion in Greece with a new franchise agreement for the INNSiDE by Melia brand. The agreement involves the Elounda Ilion hotel in Elounda, eastern Crete, which is owned by the extended family of director and actor Christoforos Papakaliatis, known for his role in the TV series 'Maestro' currently streaming on Netflix. This marks the fifth hotel in Greece to be part of Melia's portfolio under a franchise arrangement.
The partnership with the Papakaliatis family is not new, as they already have existing collaborations with the Spanish hospitality giant for other properties. Melia Hotels International, a multinational hospitality company, operates over 350 hotels across 40 countries. In Greece, Melia currently manages two hotels in Crete, one in Rhodes, and one in the center of Athens.
This strategic move signifies Melia's commitment to strengthening its presence in Greece, a popular tourist destination known for its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and cultural attractions. By expanding its footprint in the country through franchise agreements with well-known local partners like the Papakaliatis family, Melia aims to offer unique experiences to guests while leveraging the popularity and reputation of its INNSiDE by Melia brand.
The Elounda Ilion hotel, situated in the picturesque region of Elounda in eastern Crete, is expected to benefit from Melia's global expertise in hospitality management and its established brand recognition. With the tourism industry in Greece showing signs of recovery and growth, this new partnership between Melia Hotels International and the Papakaliatis family comes at an opportune time, poised to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality accommodations and services in the region.
As Melia Hotels International continues to expand its presence in Greece and around the world, the company remains focused on delivering exceptional experiences to travelers while fostering strong partnerships with local stakeholders and communities. The franchise agreement for the Elounda Ilion hotel is a testament to Melia's strategic growth objectives and its commitment to offering diverse and innovative hospitality solutions in key markets like Greece.
