Navarre Socialist Party Deputy Secretary General Resigns Following Trust Erosion

Ramón Alzórriz, the Deputy Secretary General of the Navarre Socialist Party (PSN) and parliamentary spokesperson, announced his resignation from all positions on Wednesday after losing the trust of the regional president, María Chivite. In a press conference, Alzórriz revealed that information regarding his partner's employment at Servinabar, a company partly owned by Santos Cerdán, was unknown to Chivite before he disclosed it.

Alzórriz explained that upon discovering Cerdán's 45 percent stake in Servinabar, he informed the president, as he believed it was important for her to be aware of this connection. He stated that he had previously been unaware of Cerdán's involvement with the company and emphasized that his partner had taken a job there to escape precarious employment conditions.

The trust between Alzórriz and Chivite was fractured when she learned about the situation. Following their discussion, Chivite communicated to Alzórriz that she could no longer trust him, prompting his decision to resign from all official roles while remaining a member of the parliament.

During the press conference, Alzórriz defended his actions by stating, "That someone works for a government contractor is not an indication of anything." He acknowledged that he had reached out to the owner of Servinabar to advocate for his partner's employment.

This incident highlights the complexities and challenges faced by public officials when personal and professional lines become blurred. Alzórriz's resignation serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and the potential consequences when trust is compromised within political hierarchies.
