Nick Carter Faces Fourth Rape Accusation in New Civil Lawsuit
Nick Carter, a member of the celebrated boy band Backstreet Boys, is facing a fourth accusation of sexual assault according to a civil lawsuit reported by Variety on Wednesday. The latest lawsuit, filed in Nevada, demands $15,000 in compensation from the singer, claiming that Laura Penly has accused Carter of forcing her into non-consensual sexual encounters on two occasions between 2004 and 2005 while they were in a relationship.
Penly details that after having consensual sex on several occasions, Carter allegedly coerced her into sex without protection. She claims this behavior led to her contracting multiple sexually transmitted diseases, including human papillomavirus (HPV). Furthermore, Penly alleges that the HPV infection is the root cause of her subsequent diagnosis of cervical cancer.
In response to the lawsuit, Carter's legal team has dismissed the claims, stating that they form part of a fabricated narrative orchestrated by a group of conspirators and their lawyers aiming to damage Carter's reputation. They assert that he does not even recall meeting the alleged victim.
Carter's legal representatives have also alleged that Penly has a documented history of financial and legal troubles, including past lawsuits for fraud. This latest lawsuit marks the fourth accusation against Carter for sexual misconduct.
Among the previous allegations is one from singer Melissa Schumann, who accused Carter of drugging and raping her in 2003 when she was still a minor. Following her allegations, Carter countersued Schuman and other accusers for damages.
The legal battles surrounding Nick Carter continue to unfold amidst strong public interest, as more details emerge regarding these serious allegations.
