North Korean Military Aid to Russia Poses Major Threat to Ukraine, Intelligence Chief Warns
Kyrylo Budanov, the intelligence chief of Ukraine, stated on September 14 during a conference in Kyiv that military aid from North Korea to Russia is a significant concern for Ukraine's defense efforts. Budanov highlighted that North Korea's military support is the most damaging among Russia's allies, emphasizing the substantial volume of military products being supplied. He explained, 'Our biggest problem from all these allies of Russia is from North Korea. Because with the volume of military products that they supply, they actually affect the intensity of the fighting.'
His comments come in light of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s commitment to strengthening ties with Moscow. The Ukrainian intelligence is closely monitoring the arms transfers from Pyongyang to Moscow. According to Budanov, there is a 'direct correlation' between the influx of North Korean arms and the ongoing military conflict, stating that Pyongyang is supplying critical artillery ammunition in significant quantities. This situation underscores the evolving dynamics of international military support and its implications for the ongoing war in Ukraine.
