Norway's Crown Princess Son Faces New Arrest Ahead of Rape Trial
Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess, has been arrested on new charges just days before his scheduled rape trial. According to the Oslo police district, Høiby was taken into custody on Sunday evening under suspicion of assault, making threats with a knife, and violating a restraining order. This arrest comes just two days before Høiby is set to face trial in Oslo for numerous serious allegations, including 38 offences that encompass four counts of rape, domestic abuse towards a former partner, and the unauthorized recording of multiple women.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Høiby has denied the most severe allegations, which include sexual abuse. The police are advocating for a four-week incarceration period for Høiby, arguing that it is necessary to prevent him from reoffending while awaiting trial.
Andreas Kruszewski, a police attorney with the Oslo police district, stated, 'The Oslo police district can confirm that Marius Borg Høiby was arrested by the police on Sunday evening charged with assault, threats with a knife, and violation of a restraining order.'
The upcoming trial has garnered significant media attention, as it not only focuses on personal violations of the law but also highlights issues of domestic violence and the treatment of sexual assault allegations in contemporary society. Høiby’s case has sparked discussions and reflections on the legal system's handling of high-profile individuals and the implications of their actions on their family and the public.
