Preliminary Proceedings Opened Against Former Socialist Militant in Controversial Hiring Case

The Investigating Court number 2 of Badajoz has initiated preliminary proceedings to probe the actions of former socialist militant Leire Díez in relation to the alleged hiring of Pedro Sánchez's brother at the Badajoz Diputación. According to a judicial order accessed by Europa Press, the presiding judge has recognized that there are characteristics in the case that may suggest the existence of several potential crimes, including the disclosure or revelation of secrets, procedural fraud, bribery, and influence peddling.

The decision to open these proceedings stems from a complaint filed by the ultra organization Hazte Oír on June 6 against both Leire Díez and former magistrate José Luis Saénz de Tejada at the Badajoz courts. The complaint accuses them of attempting to impede the investigation against Pedro Sánchez's brother in Investigating Court number 3 of Badajoz, as well as exhibiting a bold interest in removing judge Beatriz Biedma from overseeing the case.

In this context, Judge Emilio García Cancho from Investigating Court number 2 has asserted that due to the serious nature of the allegations, it is prudent to open preliminary proceedings. He emphasized the necessity of undertaking essential actions directed at clarifying the nature and circumstances surrounding the alleged facts, as well as identifying the individuals involved in this significant matter.

As the investigation unfolds, it brings to light the intricate connections between political figures and the broader implications of transparency and justice within the Spanish political landscape.
