Prosecutors Office Supports Pardon for Former Parliament President Laura Borràs

The Prosecutors Office has indicated that it will not oppose the suspension of the prison sentence for Laura Borràs, the former president of the Parliament and former leader of Junts, who was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. This decision follows a report by the public ministry that was reviewed by Europa Press. The report highlights that the court recommended a partial pardon for Borràs in the seventh point of the conviction. As a result, if the pardon is granted, the Prosecutors Office will support the suspension of her custodial sentence to prevent any potential harm to Borràs.

It is important to note, however, that the pardon would only apply to her prison sentence. Borràs will still be required to fulfill a disqualification penalty of 13 years and pay a fine of 36,000 euros. This development marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding Borràs and raises questions about the implications of such decisions on political figures in similar positions.
