Prosecutors Request Archive of Investigation into Pedro Sánchez's Brother
The Public Prosecutor's Office has formally requested the Provincial Court of Badajoz to archive the ongoing investigation against David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. This request comes following an extensive review, detailed in a written document exceeding one hundred pages, which was obtained by Europa Press.
The Prosecutor's Office contests the prosecution previously agreed upon by Beatriz Biedma, the presiding judge of Instruction Court number 3 of Badajoz, concerning both David Sánchez and Miguel Ángel Gallardo, the president of the Badajoz Provincial Council, as well as other involved individuals.
In its justification for the request, the Prosecutor's Office cites a lack of rational evidence indicating any criminal activity by those investigated. It asserts that proceeding to trial is unnecessary in this particular case, suggesting that the allegations may not hold sufficient weight to merit further legal action. This development could have implications for the political landscape and public perceptions surrounding the Sánchez family and their connections within local government.
