PSOE Appoints Jesús Celada as New Spokesperson Amid Leadership Changes
The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has appointed Jesús Celada as the new spokesperson for the Assembly of Madrid, following the resignation of Juan Lobato. This change was confirmed by parliamentary sources and reported by Europa Press. Celada, who served as Lobato's deputy spokesperson, will take over the role, while Lobato continues his duties as a deputy in the Madrid Chamber.
Marta Bernardo has been named the new deputy spokesperson, taking over Celada's former position. These leadership shifts within the party come in the wake of Lobato's resignation as the general secretary of PSOE in Madrid, which stemmed from a controversy surrounding a private conversation that was recorded without consent.
The controversial discussion involved government official Pilar Sánchez Acera and pertained to Isabel Díaz Ayuso's partner, who was involved in a tax offense case. Following the uproar, Lobato submitted evidence, including a notarized document and a phone, to the Supreme Court to clarify the matters at hand.
Celada, born in Madrid in 1976, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously served as the director general of Disability Policies from 2018 to 2021, and he is also an engineer by profession.
The PSOE's internal changes reflect ongoing challenges and the party's efforts to regain stability and public trust amid unfolding controversies. The focus will now shift to how Celada will navigate the political landscape in the regional parliament and address the issues raised during Lobato's leadership.
