PSOE Files Complaint Against Madrid President's Chief of Staff for Alleged Breach of Privacy

The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has formally lodged a complaint against Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, the chief of staff for Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the President of the Community of Madrid, over accusations of revealing confidential information. The complaint asserts that Rodríguez unlawfully disclosed personal data of two journalists, a claim initially reported by El Diario and later confirmed by PSOE sources to Europa Press.

According to the allegations, Rodríguez accessed private information—including names and photographs—of these journalists through a national police officer who serves as Ayuso's escort. This incident reportedly took place on March 19, when the journalists approached Ayuso’s residence.

The PSOE is calling for legal action against Rodríguez, arguing that he should be prosecuted for his role in leaking sensitive information. The party is also seeking an investigation into Rodríguez's phone, urging authorities to ensure that no evidence, particularly messages related to the case, is destroyed.

The PSOE's federal leadership has highlighted that the national police officer involved reportedly engaged in a cordial interaction while Rodríguez shared rumors about the journalists in a chat group with various media professionals. This situation raises questions about the integrity of communications within the police force and the interactions between political operatives and the media.

As this story develops, it underlines significant concerns regarding privacy violations and the potential misuse of power by public officials in Spain. The PSOE’s actions reflect an increasing commitment to protect the rights of journalists and uphold ethical standards in governance.
