Rescue Operation Underway as Third Skier Survives Dolomite Avalanche
A tragic avalanche incident occurred on Sunday at Forcella Giau, located above San Vito di Cadore near Cortina d'Ampezzo, impacting a group of three skiers. Emergency responders have successfully rescued the third skier, who is currently in critical condition and has been transported to the hospital.
The avalanche struck as the three skiers were navigating the slopes, leaving one skier unaccounted for initially. Fortunately, a fourth skier quickly recognized the gravity of the situation and initiated a search for his companions while also alerting rescue services.
Fast action by the Alpine rescue teams resulted in the first two skiers being pulled from beneath the snow. One of them was found conscious, while the other was reported to be in a critical state. Continuing their efforts, the rescue teams later located the third skier, ensuring that all individuals involved in this distressing incident could receive prompt medical attention.
