Revelations from Epstein's Files: The Dark Ties to Spain and Europe
Last Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice released over three million documents related to the notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The immense volume of information is being uncovered gradually, as media investigations continue to unfold. This past Wednesday, a headline emerged exposing Epstein's connections to Spain, including names such as Ana Obregón, José María Aznar, and Astrid GilCasares. It has now come to light that Epstein had a significant link to Barcelona, which served as his operational hub.
Daniel Siad, a close associate of Epstein, was tasked with searching for women in Spain, Morocco, or Cuba. A Franco-Algerian, Siad reportedly sent Epstein messages including disturbing notes like "The girl is 20 but looks younger." The documents imply that Barcelona was one of the primary cities selected by Epstein to recruit women for his sexual parties. However, it remains unclear whether he also sought out minors in the country or if he abused young women under the age of 18 at some of his properties, as evidenced by his crimes in the U.S. for which he escaped punishment by committing suicide in 2019 while incarcerated.
Siad relocated to Barcelona around 2016 from Paris. That year, he contacted Epstein via Skype, suggesting that he could facilitate the arrival of a woman—whose identity remains classified—to help in finding girls within the city. "I have a nice apartment, I love to cook, so we would make a great team," he stated in one of his early messages to the American financier, who was almost set to visit the Catalan city mere days prior to his arrest.
The files contain numerous email exchanges with Siad, who appears to have been instrumental in this recruitment operation. "It's a great pleasure to be here. Barcelona is full of life, people are very nice, and Spain is safer than Paris, especially Barcelona, which is filled with tourists from everywhere," Siad claimed in an email sent to Epstein.
These messages reveal a pattern of young victim recruitment, where Siad would locate young women and house them temporarily—sometimes even in his own home—while sending copious photos and videos to Epstein for evaluation, often discussing their physical attributes. In one case, he remarked, "She's pretty, but her breasts are horrible. She'll have to operate again," in response to a picture of a victim.
Messages detailing monetary transactions and sexual demands from Epstein paint a disturbing picture. "Lower your mobile between your legs," he instructed a young woman he had proposed a video call to, one located by his agent.
One of Epstein's recruitment tactics, as detailed in these files, involved using modeling agencies as a front to entrap women, whom he would coerce to fulfill his sexual desires. Siad’s connections in the fashion world were prominent, and he boasted in his social networks about knowing powerful figures such as the far-right politician Jean-Marie Le Pen, luxury brand entrepreneur François-Henri Pinault, and banker Benjamin de Rothschild.
Siad's operations were not limited to Barcelona. For instance, in December 2016, he traveled to Cuba for Fidel Castro's funeral and subsequently contacted Epstein to express his desire to open an agency in Havana, where he claimed to have met many new and beautiful girls. Months later, coinciding with Ramadan, he was scouting more candidates in Marrakech for the magnate.
In May 2009, long before settling in Barcelona, he reached out to Epstein from Poland, saying he had girls ready and needed at least 4000 euros. "Slovakia is the place to be; I already have one woman waiting for me to see more than 45 models in Košice. Then I'll travel to Budapest," he noted in his message, showcasing his global exploitation of women.
By July 2010, Siad was once again in Spain, this time in Ibiza. "I'm with Tigrane; he wants to meet you. I'm here with eight top girls. He would love to build something with you. You can come to Ibiza; we have a huge house," he wrote. Ultimately, it seems that the proposed meeting never took place.
Occasionally, Epstein rejected Siad's offers for various reasons, providing feedback about the women, with particular interest in their ages. Siad assured him of the women's beauty while also indicating they looked younger than their actual age. In one email from September 2014 for a meeting in Paris, he mentioned a girl who was 26 but appeared to be under 18, labeling her 'very interesting.'
The names of the powerful individuals appearing in Epstein's latest documents continue to generate global turbulence and raise questions as the fallout from the released papers reverberates worldwide.
