Search Continues for Missing Passengers After Superyacht Tragedy Near Palermo

On Wednesday, divers recovered two bodies from the remnants of the Bayesian superyacht, which tragically sank off the coast of Porticiello near Palermo early Monday morning. The bodies have yet to be identified, adding to the growing apprehension surrounding the incident.

Among the six individuals still unaccounted for are notable figures, including British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and Jonathan Bloomer, the Chairman of Morgan Stanley International. The other missing passengers consist of Bloomer's wife Anne Elizabeth, Judith Bloomer, Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter Hannah, as well as Lynch's lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, Nada Morvillo.

The Bayesian was carrying a total of 22 people when a tornado struck the region, leading to the vessel’s distress and subsequent sinking. The Italian coast guard managed to rescue 15 passengers from the disaster, but reports have indicated that seven others were missing. One of these individuals, identified as Ricardo Thomas, worked as the yacht's chef and was later recovered from the sea by firefighter divers. His body was found approximately half a mile from the coast at a depth of around 50 meters.

As authorities continue their search efforts, the community remains hopeful for the safe return of those still missing, while the recovery of the bodies marks a somber moment in what has become a tragic event at sea.
