Service Interruptions Due to Forest Fires and Youth Discount Program Launched

Train services between Madrid and Barcelona are currently disrupted due to ongoing forest fires near the railway infrastructure in Albi Lleida. The suspension of services affecting the route between Lleida Pirineus and Camp de Tarragona was confirmed by the railway company in a statement issued on their social media platforms. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM on Thursday, prompting the Civil Protection of the Generalitat to activate the prealert level of the Ferrocat railway emergency plan. Emergency responders are on the scene; firefighters have deployed multiple units, including three aerial resources, to combat the blaze that is threatening nearby rail services. This disruption follows another incident just yesterday, where train traffic between Seville and Majarabique was also halted due to an unrelated fire close to the train infrastructure, forcing high-speed trains to remain stationary at stations for safety reasons. In addition to these urgent railway updates, it was announced that the Government is rolling out the Summer Youth 2026 discounts, which provide reduced prices on bus and train services for young people aged 18 to 30. This program has been launched for the fourth consecutive year, aiming to assist young travelers in accessing transportation at a more affordable rate. Interested individuals can check the requirements and the registration process to take advantage of these discounts. Stay tuned for further updates on the service disruptions and the commencement of the youth discount program. Related Sources: • Source 1 • Source 2
