Siemens Energy to Expand Power Grid Business and Create Thousands of New Jobs
Siemens Energy, based in Düsseldorf, is making significant moves to expand its power grid business and generate thousands of new job opportunities in the next few years. Tim Holt, the board member overseeing the Grid Technologies division, announced plans to invest a total of 12 billion euros by 2030 to tap into the massive global investments expected in grid infrastructure. With projections suggesting that investments in grid technologies could match the total sum of the last century and a half over the next 15 years, Siemens Energy is gearing up to capitalize on this growth. Holt outlined that approximately 10,000 jobs would be created as a result of these ambitious expansion plans. The job openings are primarily expected to materialize in European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Croatia, and to a lesser extent, Romania. In a discussion with the Financial Times, Holt expressed his confidence in the upcoming surge in demand for electricity and stressed the urgent need to update the existing outdated infrastructure to meet these requirements. The Grid Technologies division has already experienced a substantial increase in orders, with figures skyrocketing from seven billion euros in 2021 to 15 billion euros in 2023. Notably, the division has already secured orders totaling twelve billion euros in the initial half of 2024, indicating a promising start to the company's growth trajectory. Siemens Energy, which boasts a global workforce of approximately 99,000 individuals, appears poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of energy technology and infrastructure.
