Spain Faces Unusual Heatwave, But the Canary Islands Remain Cool
In recent days, Spain has been experiencing anomalous heat, with temperatures soaring above the usual for this time of year. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has indicated in its weekly forecast that this unexpected warmth for mid-June is likely to persist for at least a few more days. However, interestingly, the Canary Islands will be spared from this heatwave, maintaining seasonal temperatures.
According to AEMET, Spain will see intense heat across most of its regions, with daily highs and lows exceeding normal averages. The only exception appears to be the Canary Islands, where temperatures are projected to remain at their typical levels for this period.
AEMET's forecasts paint a concerning picture for mainland Spain, warning of temperatures significantly above normal. On June 17, the agency has also predicted the possibility of strong storms, including hail. Despite the soaring temperatures, individuals should remain attentive to weather updates, as severe storms could develop in the interior regions of the peninsula.
Every day in the peninsular areas, there will be evolving clouds and local heavy showers, accompanied by potential storms and gusty winds, as warned by AEMET.
As this heatwave continues, it is crucial for residents to stay informed about the weather conditions.
