The Spanish government has assured the public that passengers aboard a cruise ship, where multiple cases of hantavirus have been detected, will remain isolated from the local population upon arrival in the Canary Islands in three days. In a press conference held at Moncloa Palace, Health Minister Mónica García and Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska outlined the planned response to the situation. The cruise ship is set to dock soon, bringing 14 Spaniards onboard—13 passengers and one crew member—who will be transported by military plane to Madrid for quarantine. Meanwhile, foreign nationals will be repatriated to their respective countries.
