Spanish Police Dismantle Neo-Nazi Terror Cell Linked to Global Accelerationist Movement

Police in Spain have arrested three individuals suspected of affiliation with the Base, a global neo-Nazi terrorist organization that encourages and trains its members in tactics aimed at overthrowing governments and initiating a race war. The group has been classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and is part of a broader worldwide accelerationist white power movement that prepares its branches to execute violent and destabilizing acts. In a statement released on Monday, Spain’s Policía Nacional confirmed that the three arrests, made in the eastern province of Castellón, resulted in the dismantling of the first accelerationist terrorist cell identified in the country. Authorities seized two firearms, replica guns, ammunition, knives, tactical military training gear, as well as materials related to accelerationism and neo-Nazi propaganda. The suspects face charges related to membership in a terrorist organization, recruiting and indoctrinating others for terrorist purposes, and illegal possession of weapons. The investigation into this cell commenced at the start of the year, when anti-terrorism and anti-radicalization officers encountered an individual described as highly radicalized and sympathetic to the supremacist doctrines of the Base. Subsequent inquiries led investigators to discover the other two members. It was revealed that this trio had undergone tactical training employing paramilitary skills and methodologies. Additionally, the investigation found that the arrested individuals had utilized social media platforms to recruit new members, laud the violent actions of other extremist organizations, and disseminate accelerationist audiovisual content. Over recent months, they had intensified their radical rhetoric, inciting violent attacks and openly disclosing their readiness to execute selective attacks in the name of their cause. The police established that the leader of this Spanish cell had maintained direct communication with Rinaldo Nazzaro, the US founder of the Base, who has recently called for cells worldwide to carry out attacks that aim to destabilize Western democratic institutions. The arrests occurred on Tuesday, November 25, alongside five searches conducted in Castellón. A judge from Spain's highest criminal court, the Audiencia Nacional, has ordered that the leader of this cell be held in custody. The Southern Poverty Law Center characterizes the Base as an anti-Semitic, white nationalist organization that trains its members in survivalism and paramilitary skills, preparing them for armed uprisings against government authorities. The term ‘accelerationism’ broadly denotes ideologies seeking to ignite radical social transformation, and has recently gained traction among far-right groups aiming to undermine communities and democratic institutions through violent means. Nazzaro, the founder, is noted to be a former Pentagon contractor and analyst at the Department of Homeland Security, currently based in Russia, and has been accused by alleged former members of being a spy for the Kremlin.
