Spanish Prosecutors Seek to Dismiss Charges Against Begoña Gómez
The Spanish Prosecutors Office has moved to archive the case against Begoña Gómez, the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, requesting the annulment of charges related to four alleged crimes against her. This motion has been filed before the Provincial Court of Madrid as a response to an earlier order from Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who proposed to bring Gómez to trial.
In their statement, the Public Ministry indicated that after thorough examination, they do not perceive any criminal activity on the part of Begoña Gómez, nor for the other individuals implicated in the case, including advisor Cristina Álvarez and businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés.
The Prosecutors Office expressed that the charges brought against these individuals lack sufficient justification, prompting their call for the dismissal of the proceedings. This development marks a significant turn in what had become a high-profile legal situation involving several prominent figures, amidst growing scrutiny and public interest.
