Stellantis Experiences Significant Decline in European Auto Market Sales
Stellantis, the Italian-American-French automotive group, has reported a substantial drop in sales across the European market, which includes EU countries, EFTA, and the UK. In February, the group registered 155,970 new cars, marking a decrease of 162 units compared to the same month in 2024, as per the latest data from ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association.
The market share for Stellantis also saw a decline, falling to 16.2% from 18.7% a year prior. This trend of decreasing registrations did not just stop with February; in the first two months of this year, Stellantis recorded a total of 310,091 car registrations, reflecting a downtrend of 16.1% compared to the same period last year.
Across the wider European market, car sales also experienced a downturn, totaling 963,540 registrations, which represents a 3.1% decline compared to February 2024. The overall market share for Stellantis for the initial two months of 2024 stands at 15.8%, down from 18.4% in the previous year.
These figures highlight the challenges that Stellantis is facing in the competitive European auto market, as the company navigates shifting consumer preferences and economic uncertainties.
