Sunny Days Ahead: Weather Forecast for the Weekend

The sun is expected to shine brightly across much of the Spanish peninsula this Friday, signaling a shift towards more stable weather. According to forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the day will predominantly feature mostly clear or cloudless skies in the central and southern regions, while morning cloud cover is anticipated in the north. However, this cloud cover should dissipate as the day progresses.

In the extreme northern parts of Spain, skies will remain overcast, with light and scattered rainfall expected in the eastern Cantabrian region and the Pyrenees. This precipitation is forecast to intensify by the end of the day. As the afternoon approaches, cloud development may lead to showers in various areas, particularly in northeastern Catalonia, Menorca, and notably in Mallorca, where storms could bring locally heavy rain. Ski resorts in the Pyrenees will see snow levels around 1,300 to 1,500 meters, providing a wintery backdrop for outdoor activities.

Turning to the Canary Islands, a mix of cloudy skies and precipitation is expected, particularly in the islands with greater topography. Heavy showers are likely in the western islands, while other areas will experience more stable weather. There is also a forecast for suspended dust in the eastern islands.

Temperature-wise, maximum readings are expected to rise across the country, except for Galicia and the Pyrenees, where they will drop slightly. As we approach the weekend, a sunny outlook prevails across nearly the entire nation. On Saturday, rain will be limited to the extreme northeast of the peninsula, the Balearic Islands, and parts of the western Canary Islands.

However, despite the sunny weather, Saturday will bring significant wind gusts, particularly in the lower Ebro valley, Pyrenees, Ampurdán, and the Balearic Islands. AEMET warns that the following day (Sunday) should see temperatures remain below normal levels, particularly in the northern regions, while the southwestern peninsula may enjoy milder conditions.

As such, residents can expect to enjoy a sunny weekend, but they may still need to bundle up with their warm coats in some areas. Prepare for a mix of leisure and chilly moments as Spain transits into this pleasant yet brisk weather phase.
