Supreme Court Judge Denies Attorney General's Request to Postpone Testimony

In a significant ruling, Supreme Court judge Ángel Hurtado has dismissed the request of Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz to postpone his testimony scheduled for Wednesday, the 29th. This decision comes despite a plea from the State Attorneys Office for a delay until additional proceedings can be completed, including testimonies from key figures connected to Madrid's political elite, such as Alberto González Amador, the boyfriend of Madrid's president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and an examination of the mobile phone of her chief of staff, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez.

The judge's firm stance underscores the urgency and importance of the investigation, as he also rejected a separate request from provincial prosecutor of Madrid, María Pilar Rodríguez, to delay the attorney general's statement set for Thursday. While Hurtado dismissed the requests for postponements, he agreed to incorporate several documents into the case, which included various instructions and action guides from the Public Prosecutors Office, along with two recent articles published by El País.

Further, the judge has asked the Attorney General's Office for a copy of the internal mobile phone and email regulations, signaling a thorough examination of protocols surrounding digital communications. Additionally, inquiries have been made regarding whether Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz's mobile phone has been formatted, indicating a keen interest in the directorate's mobile data practices during the ongoing inquiry.

This case continues to draw attention as it explores critical intersections of political accountability and legal procedures.
