Supreme Court Summons Attorney General Amid Leak Investigation
The Supreme Court has set a date for a significant hearing in a high-profile leak case involving Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz. García Ortiz has been summoned to testify as a suspect on January 29, as part of an investigation into allegations of a leak against Alberto González Amador, a partner of Madrid's president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
This development adds to the mounting uncertainties regarding the judicial calendar in relation to the 2025 proceedings tied to this case. In the coming days, other defendants linked to the public prosecutors' office will also be required to appear before the court. Notably, the head of the Provincial Prosecutors Office of Madrid, Pilar Rodríguez, is scheduled to testify on January 30.
Further complicating the situation, Diego Villafañe, the Deputy of the Technical Secretariat of the Attorney General's Office, has also been summoned to appear as a suspect, with his testimony slated for January 5.
As the investigation unfolds, the implications of these testimonies could potentially have significant repercussions within the framework of Madrid's legal and political landscape. The investigation not only concerns the individuals involved but also raises questions about the integrity of public institutions and the relationship between political offices and the judiciary in Spain.
