Talgo Avril Train Services Resumed After Computer Malfunction

At 4:40 AM, Renfe announced that the computer malfunction affecting the Talgo Avril trains, which began impacting services on Wednesday, has been resolved. The scheduling of these trains has returned to normal, effective from the commencement of service today across the three primary corridors connecting Madrid with Galicia, Asturias, Zaragoza, Barcelona, and Levante.

The disruptions, which had rendered the corridors inoperative since 7:00 AM on January 1, were due to software loading issues that affected all self-propelled units of the 106 series (both Standard and Conventional Gauge). In response to the situation, Renfe implemented a special operational plan designed to assist the thousands of travelers affected by the breakdown.

Renfe coordinated the relocation of passengers to other available trains and arranged punctual alternative road transport when direct relocation was not feasible. This proactive approach ensured that the travel needs of almost 20,000 passengers, who rely on the Avril train services, were still met despite the earlier disruptions.

Passengers can now return to their regular travel routines as services are fully operational again. Renfe has assured all customers of continued service and reliability moving forward.
